Europe's Top Music & Podcasts Android Apps in Q2 2024: Sensor Tower Data Insights

Sensor Tower's latest data provides a look into the performance of the top five Music & Podcasts applications on the Android platform in Europe for the second quarter of 2024. Here's how these apps fared in terms of downloads, revenue, and weekly active users.

Spotify: Music and Podcasts maintained its position with substantial figures, showing an uptrend in revenue from $1.1M at the start of April to a peak of $1.3M by the end of April, before slightly declining to $1.1M in early June and recovering to $1.2M towards the end of the quarter. Downloads remained consistent, floating around the 280K to 300K mark each week, while weekly active users saw a steady increase from 64M to 65M, before a slight dip and a rebound by the end of June.

Deezer: Music & Podcast Player also demonstrated a steady performance. Revenue saw fluctuations, starting at $400K, dipping in mid-April to around $337K, and then showing a recovery trend with minor ups and downs, ending the quarter at approximately $375K. Downloads for Deezer hovered between 28K and 40K, with a noticeable spike in early June. Weekly active users started at 4.8M, experienced minor fluctuations, and concluded the quarter slightly lower at 4.7M.

SoundCloud: Play Music & Songs saw its revenue begin at about $91K, dip to around $84K mid-quarter, and then peak at nearly $99K by the end of June. Downloads were around the 100K mark weekly, with active users starting at 3M, peaking at 3.3M in mid-May, and then slightly receding to close the quarter at 3M.

Apple Music showed a revenue range from $75K to $85K, with a few peaks and troughs throughout the quarter. Downloads for the app stayed within the 54K to 78K range, with a noticeable increase in late May. Weekly active users were fairly stable, starting at just over 1M and experiencing a slight decrease to end at 986K.

Lastly, Amazon Music: Songs & Podcasts began the quarter with revenue at around $71K, dipped to $65K in mid-April, and experienced a rise to $73K towards the end of June. Downloads started at 70K, had a low around 59K in early June, and saw a boost to 73K by the quarter's close. Active users declined from 2M to 1.9M in early June but surged to 2.1M in the last week of June.
